Query Containment of Tier-2 Queries over a Probabilistic Database
نویسندگان
چکیده
We study the containment problem for a query language over probabilistic relational databases that allows queries like “is the probability that q1 holds greater than 0.2 and the probability that q2 holds greater than 0.6?” where q1 and q2 are Boolean conjunctive queries. In addition to being a fundamental problem in its own right, the containment problem is the key problem that an optimizer must solve for many standard optimizations (such as picking up an index or using a materialized view). Our main technical result is that the containment problem is decidable, and we give an EXPSPACE-algorithm based on linear programming for it. We believe that we are the first to study the containment problem for any such probabilistic languages.

Relational Databases Query Optimization using Hybrid Evolutionary Algorithm
Optimizing the database queries is one of hard research problems. Exhaustive search techniques like dynamic programming is suitable for queries with a few relations, but by increasing the number of relations in query, much use of memory and processing is needed, and the use of these methods is not suitable, so we have to use random and evolutionary methods. The use of evolutionary methods, beca...

As moving to big data world where data is increasing in unstructured way with high velocity, there is a need of data-store to store this bundle amount of data. Traditionally, relational databases are used which are now not compatible to handle this large amount of data, so it is needed to move on to non-relational data-stores. In the current study, we have proposed an extension of the Mongo...

متن کاملChapter 2 MODELS FOR INCOMPLETE AND PROBABILISTIC INFORMATION
We discuss, compare and relate some old and some new models for incomplete and probabilistic databases. We characterize the expressive power of c-tables over infinite domains and we introduce a new kind of result, algebraic completion, for studying less expressive models. By viewing probabilistic models as incompleteness models with additional probability information, we define completeness and...
متن کاملContainment of Conjunctive Queries over Databases with Null Values
We study containment of conjunctive queries that are evaluated over databases that may contain tuples with null values. We assume the semantics of SQL for single block queries with a SELECT DISTINCT clause. This problem (“null containment” for short) is different from containment over databases without null values and sometimes more dif-
